Alo Lodge is at the heart of a region where culture has been well preserved. Custom villages and historical sites are numerous and accessible by foot. There are other possibilities such as bush hiking including mount of skull.

SW Malekula has seen a strong revival of traditional custom. Many chiefs have returned to their traditional grounds and are rebuilding Nakamals and rediscovering the old stones and sacred sites.

Accommodation: Solid 4 roomed guest; 3 doubles and one with 4 bunk beds. Two toilets and two showers (shared).


Facilities: The guesthouse has a wide shady verandah.

Tours/Activities: All tours are conducted by a local guide. Sunset at the village Nakamal; and Lohtou ancient village day tour; Venamboas custom village half day tour; Looraba’ap half day tour to meet an informative cultural field worker; Melanesian garden walk; Lembinwen lagoon by canoe; Half day fishing including a picnic lunch.
